The Pursuit of Healthiness:
One of my main pursuits in life is the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. So many times I said to myself: “This is the day I start a healthy lifestyle”, and then within no time, I find myself sitting on my couch eating fried food and chocolate like a careless teenager, and a year goes by without me exercising.
For the last few months, I struggled to lose that 1.5 kg that is keeping me away from my perfect weight (perfect in my opinion of course). And I feel like my super fast metabolism is beginning to become normal now that I am in my early thirties.
I also read all these scary things about being “skinny fat”, meaning even though someone appears skinny on the outside, their body fat percentage can be high. So, even if you look good, your body composition may be wrong.
Anyway, I don’t know what changed in me a couple of weeks ago, but I had enough, and I suddenly started working seriously on achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
So, what does this “being healthy” goal consist of?:
Decrease body fat percentage:
Which also means gaining muscle. I don’t want to lose weight, I want to be fit.
At least 3 times a week, in order to gain muscle and strengthen my whole body. I am currently doing the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide, which you can check out on this link: https://www.kaylaitsines.com/collections/guides. That program is tough, every muscle will be sore for a long time, but it is worth it. I also walk & run on my treadmill.
With as many organic ingredients as possible.
Rely on healthy food:
Vegetables (mainly green veggies); fruits (especially those with antioxidants); good fat sources (example: avocado, sweet potatoes); proteins (example: salmon, chicken, quinoa); and food high in fiber (such as lentils).
Drink A LOT of water:
Yeah, like all the time, until you hate it & you’re running to the bathroom every half an hour.
The cheat meal is a must:
You have to be able to keep enjoying the food you love. You only live once right? So have a cheat meal every once in a while.
A healthy body is nothing without a healthy mind, staying away from stress (if possible) or finding ways to manage it.
Finally, I am no nutritionist or healthy lifestyle expert, but the above seem like the main things to do if you want to live a healthy life. And I will try to post as many healthy recipes as possible and make my best to be the best motivation for myself, and for you as well.
